Research Activity on Microbiology / Biotechnology

1. Molecular Biology of Streptococcus pyogenes
We are working with virulence factors of this human pathogen including surface-bound and secreted virulence factors as well as their regulator. Currently, we are focusing on making genetic engineered extracellular product, streptokinase.

2. Molecular Biology of Hepatitis Virus
We are working with S gene to investigate the subtype of hepatitis B virus and to identify mutation responsible for vaccine escape mutants from several cities in Javam Indonesia.

3. Exploration of Indonesian Biodiversity for Pharmaceutical Purposes using Molecular Approach
We are currently focusing on alpha amylase from microorganisms isolated from marine and soil sources.
